Doorwarden: Bloomington

This glorious thing is from the current Grunwald Gallery student show in Bloomington, IN. I love the photo I made from it because there’s something about the close framing that seems to want it to be symmetrical and then it just defies that desire beautifully.

It also reminds me of the door knocker scene from A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. “[T]he eyes were wide open, they were perfectly motionless. That, and its livid colour, made it horrible; but its horror seemed to be in spite of the face and beyond its control, rather than a part of its own expression.” (I stole this quote off Endnotes.com because I’m away from my library.)
